Limmud Helsinki was the fourth annual gathering of its sort in Helsinki, between 2-3 Februari 2019.
Over the years, Limmud has managed to achieve name recognition as a thought-provoking quality-event and it has changed the face of Jewish identity in Helsinki from something that people expected the Jewish school to tell their children to something people are now able to explore themselves. Through Limmud, Judaism has become something much more tangible and multi-layered than before, growing into the biggest Jewish cultural event in Finland.
Limmud’s volunteers worked tirelessly to bring ‘the very best the Jewish world has to offer’ to Helsinki in order that we may all learn not only from presenters, but from each other. Moreover, Limmud Helsinki is an event where we are all equals – we are all event organizers, and we are all participants.
Limmud is already becoming an institution in Helsinki, a place of Jewish learning previously unseen in Finland, but long hoped for by many.
Wit the varied programme the main feedback by participants was that it was a shame they couldn’t attend attend all the lectures – this is part of the magic. There is
always more to learn, and we want the event to reflect that.
The event had 235 participants with lectures and artistic performances from over 50 speakers of a wide range of topics.
